Our Beer

Unfortunately we’re kind of selfish when it comes to brewing. We brew styles that pique our own interests and allow us to learn more about our craft. But what we strive for is to make sure there’s something for everyone in this ADHD-approach to beer making. Most beers listed below will not be available all the time, but as we continue to evolve as a brewery, you’ll see many of these reappear, along with exciting new releases. Maintaining the fun part about brewing is important to us, so we try not to get too tied down to any particular styles or brands.

American Pale Ale

Hoppy American Pale Ale made with our friends from Sante Adairius Rustic Ales, only 38 miles up the coast! This beer is an expression of both our breweries - we combined yeast strains and picked out some of our favorite hops. The result a balanced impression of pine & citrus hop character with tropical overtones and a creamy mouthfeel.

American Pale Ale

Traditional Northwest-style pale ale dry hopped with Columbus & Citra and balanced with a touch of light caramel malt.

Citraveza

Hoppy Mexican Lager

This is a hoppy Mexican lager, inspired by a San Diego garage homebrew recipe from 2011. Bitterness is light and crisp, but hop aroma & flavor are front and center. We overuse the word “tropical”, but there’s really no better way to describe Citraveza, as the interaction between the lager yeast and these hops make for a truly unique beer.

Double India Pale Ale

Double IPA fermented with a formerly classified Brettanomyces yeast strain that produces intense tropical aromas and flavors. We augment these yeast esters with Citra, Mosaic, and touch of Galaxy in the dry hop, resulting in a total juice bomb. It also has a beautiful orangey haze, and creamy mouthfeel from the addition of flaked oats.

West Coast IPA

Formerly known as Dank Sauce, the earthy, resinous, diesel-like hop character of this IPA defines what we feel a “dank” hoppy beer should embody. We use experimental hop #07270, Summit, and HBC #366 to achieve this.

Imperial India Pale Ale

“Hop Bomb” would be cliché to describe this beer. It goes way beyond that – intense aromas of pineapple, freshly crushed gooseberry, orange pith and the whole spectrum of “dank” blast through the glass. That’s what you get with nearly five pounds per barrel of Nelson, Mosaic, and Citra hops.

American Pale Ale

Dedicated to the Ag workers of the Salinas Valley, this is a juicy, hop forward beer that drinks more like an IPA than a traditional balanced American pale ale. The yeast strain produces nectarine-like, stone fruit esters which blend beautifully with dank hops like Eureka, El Dorado & Mandarina Bavaria. Enjoy this rather hazy interpretation of what we think is a damn delicious hoppy pale ale.

Haze of Our Lives

India Pale Ale

IPA with a fruity yeast strain and experimental South African hops. In this series we explore various hops from the Southern Hemisphere in the quest to bring you the ultimate hop sensory experience. Mouthfeel is creamy from the addition of oats, wheat, and spelt malt. It's got a beautiful orange hue, and is definitely on the more opaque side.

Local Shred Red

American Amber Ale

Classic American-style Red with a piney, resinous hops from the Pacific Northwest and a rich, malty backbone. Very much a traditional West Coast-style red with a clean fermentation, and malt / hop balance.

Mai Tai PA

Technically, an International-Style Pale Ale but We Call It an IPA

Our drier, decidedly “tropical” IPA that’s light on bitterness, but heavy on hop aroma, courtesy of 100% Mosaic hops. One whiff and you get super intense notes of passion fruit, mango, and lychee. Grain bill of just American two-row malt and a clean fermentation keep it simple and allow these hops to shine.

Minesweeper

West Coast IPA

Hop hazed and incredibly juicy, this was our first ever brewed IPA and remains our top selling beer and local favorite at our Monterey brewpub. It’s brewed with 100% British Maris Otter pale malt as it’s base, which contributes a creamy texture and a tad more body than your typical dry, West Coast IPA. As with most of our hoppy beers, a majority of the bitterness comes directly from whirlpool additions in the boil, with the intent of maximizing hop aroma & flavor. Minesweeper is dry hopped excessively with Simcoe and Citra hops.

Inspired by Run the Jewels' new album, this Conan fermented IPA features Citra, Ekuanot & Simcoe. It's quite delicious and your burps will be glorious.

Our house lager yeast is squeaky clean and attenuates fully, making it an obvious choice to play around with single hop beers. Focusing primarily on newer hop varieties, past batches have included El Dorado, Azacca, Nelson Sauvin, and Eureka.

Double IPA brewed in collaboration with Amplified Ale Works. Fermented with a unique yeast strain that produces tropical-fruity flavors and aromas, complementing an arsenal of Mosaic, El Dorado & Nelson hops.

Vengeful Barbarian

IPA

Bright, peach heavy tones from an East Coast yeast strain fermentation and a dry hop of Citra & Amarillo. The result is a hop aroma and flavor chock full of ripe, juicy grapefruit and apricot jam. On the back end, we've loaded up with beer with lots of oats, so it has a soft, creamy texture to support mild hop bitterness.

Hoppy Red Ale

Inspired by frothing groms that attempt to "shred" Wharf #2 on massive swells, this cousin of our West Coast-style Local Shred Red is fermented with a juicy yeast strain that loves fruit-forward and dank hops. One could say it's a New England-style interpretation of a American Red Ale. No specialty malts, all color is derived from Belgian candi sugar.

Single hop, experimental IPA with the goal of understanding how yeast esters impact different types of hops. Current batch (11.18) uses Ekuanot (formerly Equinox) which, in conjuction with the yeast, produces melon, lime, papaya, berry, and pine notes in the nose and on the palate.
